Photo reference
Gathering Photo reference is a key starting point for me while beginning a project. the process of gathering images enables me to generate moods, establish lighting and composition, receive inspiration, and understand my subject matter further. images that i gather can also be used for plates and photobashing as i later refine my concept designs in photoshop.

COMPOSITION
Using the inspiration received from photo reference, i brainstorm composition ideas. these compositions play a crucial role in the final outcome, as they serve as a building block for the depth, lighting, and focal point of the concept piece. by narrowing in on a specific idea, i am able to transition into the next part of the process which involves diving deeper into the shapes and forms that will eventually make up the final concept image.

SKETCHES
design refinement often comes from exploring shape and design language. this specific phase in my process is where my concepts begin to emerge as I take inspiration from my reference images and quick composition thumbnails. this phase allows me to brainstorm appealing designs, whether they're for vehicles, buildings, or characters.
3D
once my final concept design is sorted out, I do as much as i can in 3D to prepare assets. at this stage, i am constantly relying back upon the previous steps in my process. the photos, sketches, and composition studies serve as constant reference points as i block out my concept and refine it in blender. after exploring 3D, i take my rendered scenes and refine them in photoshop, producing concept designs that can later be used as important references for team leads and other artists.
